Birth Certificate Translation for USCIS

Birth certificate translation into English for USCIS, with the translator's certification. $30 for a one-page document, ready in 1-2 business days.

When you need it

You'll need a translated birth certificate in almost every immigration case: family-based petitions, citizenship, green card applications, and documents for a child.

We translate the whole document, seals and stamps included. USCIS requires a full translation, so a partial one won't do.

Spelling of names

We spell names the way they appear in your international passport. If you've already filed documents in your case, we check the spelling against them too. Inconsistent transliteration leads to questions from the officer and sometimes to a Request for Evidence.

If you also need an apostille

A translation and an apostille do different jobs. The translation lets a foreign document be read in the U.S. The apostille is what a U.S. document usually needs to be accepted abroad. If your birth certificate was issued in California and you're sending it to another country, we can get the California apostille for $120, state fee included.

Translation of a birth certificate issued in the U.S. is quoted separately, since formats vary by state.

If your document isn't in Russian or Ukrainian

The price on this page is for translations from Russian or Ukrainian into English. We also translate from other languages, most often Romanian (Moldovan), Belarusian, Armenian, Spanish, Turkish, and Azerbaijani, but we quote those separately: send us a scan, and we'll give you the price before we start.

Frequently asked questions

Does the translation need to be notarized?
Not for USCIS or immigration court. Both require a complete, accurate translation and a certification in which the translator states that the translation is accurate and that they are competent to translate the language. Neither calls for a notary. If an organization asks for notarization on top of that, we can have the translator's signature on the certification notarized.
Do you need the original document?
No. We work from a scan or a photo as long as the text is easy to read. We need the original only if the document has to get an apostille before it's translated.
How long does it take?
A birth certificate translation usually takes 1-2 business days. If you're up against a deadline, tell us right away. We'll check our workload and give you a straight answer on whether we can make it.
