Notarized Copy with an Apostille

A notarized copy of your document with a California apostille costs $170 and takes 1-3 business days. It's the way to go when you can't or don't want to send the original abroad.

When you need one

A notarized copy with an apostille works when the receiving party abroad accepts a copy and you can't or don't want to part with the original, such as a passport, a diploma, or a document you have only one of.

The copy is notarized, and then the California Secretary of State issues an apostille authenticating the notary's signature. That's how a copy is prepared for use abroad.

What the $170 covers

  • The copy itself and the notarization.
  • The apostille from the California Secretary of State, state fee included.
  • Translation of the apostille into the language of your document, if the copy is going to Ukraine or to a country that accepts documents in Russian.
  • Technical work and getting the document ready to ship.

Check before you order

Not every authority abroad accepts a copy in place of the original. Check the requirement with the receiving party first. If they need the original with an apostille, a copy won't help, and the money would be wasted.

Pickup or shipping

You can pick up the finished copy at our office, or we can ship it within the U.S. or abroad. Shipping is priced separately: USPS Priority Mail within the U.S. is $20, and international rates start at $90.
