Outside Sacramento: Local Notary, Then Apostille by Mail
You don't have to come to Sacramento to get a document notarized and apostilled. If you're elsewhere in California, you sign in front of a notary near you, mail us the original, and we handle the apostille and shipping.
Online notarization in California
California law requires you to appear in person before a notary public. The Secretary of State is clear that a video image doesn't count as a personal appearance, so a California notarization can't be done over a video call. If someone offers you a California notarization online, ask exactly what they mean.
That doesn't mean you have to drive to Sacramento just to sign. Here's how we work with clients in other California cities.
How it works
- Sign the document in front of any notary public near you. You'll need a photo ID.
- Mail the signed, notarized original to us: LEGISPRO, Attn Maxim Lebedev, 5301 Madison Ave, #203, Sacramento, CA 95841.
- We get the apostille from the California Secretary of State.
- We send the finished document to your address in California or straight to the recipient abroad.
What it costs
The California apostille is $120, state fee included. Shipping the finished document is extra: USPS Priority Mail within the U.S. is $20, and shipping abroad starts at $90, depending on the country.
Your local notary's fee isn't included in our price. In California it's usually $15 per signature.
Available from any state
- California apostille on a California document you already have: $120. You mail the document to us.
- Apostille on a document from another state: $160, that state's fee included.
- Certified translation: we work from a scan, so no originals are needed.
- Document shipping abroad: from $90.
